Manchester Swimmers Split With Valley

The Manchester swim teams split with Tippecanoe Valley Wednesday

The Manchester girls swim team evened their dual meet record to 3-3 with Wednesday night’s victory over Tippecanoe Valley. Josie Briner and Rachel Garcia were quadruple winners and Hannah Eberly was a triple winner for the Squires. Individually, Briner took first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke and Garcia finished first in the 200 freestyle. Eberly was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a new lifetime best swim. Briner, Garcia, and Eberly teamed up wtih Noelle Walt to finish first in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Second place finishers for Manchester included Evyn Fox in the 200 and 500 freestyles, Sophie Anglin in the 100 freestyle, and Eberly in the 100 breastsroke with another lifetime best. Adia Selleck dropped over 6 seconds in the 100 butterly for a new lifetime best and Sofia Siano dropped over a second in the 100 breaststroke for a new lifetime best. The Squires will travel to Huntington on Tuesday to take on Huntington North as the Parkview Huntington YMCA.

The Manchester boys swimming team lost to Tippecanoe Valley on Wednesday night. Liam York took the Squires only first place finish for the night, winning the 50 freestyle. York also placed second in the 100 backstroke. Cale Bennett had a pair of second places in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, and Caden Marcum placed second in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Tristan Schmid took second place in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay team of York, Schmid, Bennett, and Marcum took second and the 200 freestyle relay team of York, Bennett, Marcum, and Roberto Iaione also finshed second. The Squires will hit the road again on Tuesday to take on Huntington North at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA.
