Manchester Swims At Oak Hill Invite

The Manchester swim teams were at the Oak Hill Invite Saturday.

The boys placed 5th

Liam York finished second in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle, and Cale Bennett placed fourth in the 100 butterfly and third in the 500 freestyle to lead the Squires.

The girls finished 2nd

Manchester won 5 events and lowered a school record en route to a second place finish at the Oak Hill Invitational. Manchester opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. Rachel Garcia, Hannah Eberly, Josie Briner, and Noelle Walt combined to post a season best time that is just over a second off the school record. Next, Briner remained undefeated in the 200 IM this season, winning by over 7 seconds. In the 50 freestyle, Garcia swam a season best time to upset the top seeded swimmer and take first with Eberly finishing fourth and Walt taking 9th. Briner continued her perfect day by easily winning the 100 butterfly with Miriam Struble-Hedstrom taking third. Evyn Fox continued her strong season by dropping another 5 seconds in the 500 freestyle and finishing in 6th place. Eberly, Walt, Garcia, and Briner teamed up again to finish first in the 200 freestyle relay, lowering their school record by .4 seconds. Eberly led off the relay with a lifetime best time in the 50 freestyle. Garcia and Eberly each posted season best times in the 100 breaststroke to finish second and fourth. The team of Sophie Anglin, Gracie Dale, Miriam Struble-Hedstrom, and Evyn Fox wrapped up the meet with a seventh place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Manchester will be back in action on Wednesday when Oregon-Davis comes to town for a 6:30PM meet.
