Manchester Swimmers Ready For TRC

The Manchester swim teams defeated Oregon Davis Wednesday.

The Girls swim team won 10 of 11 events en route to a 117-33 victory over Oregon-Davis on Wednesday night. The 200 medley relay team of Josie Briner, Gracie Dale, Sophie Anglin, and Laynen DeLaughter edged the team of Rachel Garcia, Evyn Fox, Noelle Walt, and Sofia Siano by .11 seconds to open the meet. In the 200 freestyle Hannah Eberly won easily with Miriam Struble-Hedstrom overtaking two Oregon-Davis swimmers in the final 50 to take second. Garcia cruised to victory in the 200 IM with Fox and Dale swimming strong to take second and third. Briner pulled away early to win the 50 freestyle by two body lengths. After the diving break, Struble-Hedstrom Adia Selleck went 1-2 in the 100 butterfly. Briner pulled away early and hung on to take the 500 freestyle over Garcia by three body-lengths. The relay team of Eberly, Fox, Selleck, and Dale edged out the team of Walt, Struble-Hedstrom, Anglin, and DeLaughter to win the 200 freestyle relay. The Squires swept the top three places in the 100 backstroke with Elena Lawrence taking first followed by Eberly and Wynter Harris. In the 100 breastroke, Fox, Anglin, and Walt battled hard, but Fox pulled away on the last 25 to take first, followed by Anglin and Walt. In the final relay, the team of Eberly, Walt, DeLaughter, and Garcia hung on to win over the team of Lawrence, Anglin, Selleck, and Briner. The Squires will travel to Maconaquah on Saturday to compete at the TRC championships.

Oregon-Davis had no boys swimmers, but the Manchester boys took the oppportuntity to tune things up before TRCs this weekend. Cale Bennett swam a season best time in the 200 free and had a strong swim in the 100 butterfly. Caden Marcum swam season bests in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Kenneth Martin swam a season best time in the 50 freestyle. Manchester will travel to Maconaquah on Saturday to compete at the TRC championships.
