Maconaquah High School Boys Varsity Basketball beat Lewis Cass Jr-Sr High School 74-69

The Braves went on the road and came away with a big comeback win over Lewis Cass.

Coach Burrus Quote: “What a team victory this Cass win was. I was so impressed with how our team hung together after Josiah Ball fouled out. Ball played great (23 points) but when he fouled out we had to dig in. We did. We got great defense from everyone. I thought we did better on Chambers the 2nd half. We held him to 2 points in the second half. He really hurt us in the first half. Then, Good really was shooting well with 3’s in the second half. We put AJ Kelly on him and he did great work chasing him. AJ, also hit big free throws and the clinching lay up. Fuddy Kile came in and got some big steals. Everybody picked up their game to pull out the win. The Maconaquah fans really made a huge difference in taking away the home court and helping us get the victory. It felt much like the game at Peru. Our players were energized by our fans. We needed that push and we got it. Thank you all. It was awesome!!!

I also wanted to mention how special a season Bauer Maple is having. He is putting up incredible numbers. He has made so many high level plays throughout this season. We all just need to enjoy the rest of his last season. From watching him these last few years he seems to get better every year. Bauer scored 29 points against Cass. We are 10-5. We have played 15 games.Bauer has scored enough that I wanted to give some updates. Bauer has scored 414 points. He is averaging 27.6 ppg. He has scored over 30 points 7 times. He has been the states leading scorer for a major portion of this season.Bauer needs 191 points to reach 1000 points for his career. He is also on pace to possibly set single season records for average and points at Maconaquah. He is also up at the top of the state in steals. I just wanted everyone to know that Bauer Maple is having an historical season, and career. We are all witnessing it. If you get a chance congratulate Bauer.”
