Maconaquah High School Boys Varsity Basketball falls to Tippecanoe Valley High School 83-70

The Braves suffered their first loss in five games at TRC opponent Tippecanoe Valley. The Braves have a quick turnaround and play at Twin Lakes on Tuesday. JV start time is 6pm.

Coach Burrus Quote: ” The Valley game was a tough game for us. We simply missed key shots on 3’s, lay ups, and free throws throughout the game. We also missed key assignments on defense and never stopped Valley consistently. If we could have stopped them for about five straight possessions in the second half it would have been the difference.

I felt like Josiah really carried us today. Valley simply could not guard him. He played fast, but really shot the ball well. Josiah has the ability to find open space even when guarded. He showed how versatile he is. He played, great.

This was a game to really learn a lot from. We will need to beat teams of this caliber to advance through our sectional. Playing at Valley this year is a tall task. I feel they were the best overall team we have played. I think the difference is how physical they are. We battled them. Continue to support this team. This group is locked in mentally and ready to finish strong. Stick with us. We have a lot left to accomplish.

Note: I wanted to acknowledge Josiah Ball has went over 500 points for his young career. He has played only 39 games in high school. He also is over 100 rebounds this season which is tops on our team. Josiah has to be one of the youngest players in Maconaquah history to already have over 500 points. Last year he had a very good freshman year at almost 10ppg. This year he has built off of last year. Congratulations to Josiah Ball for this milestone in his career.”
