Results from Maconaquah for Tuesday, April 4th

Maconaquah falls to Eastern 6-0 in first game of the season.

Eastern hurler Macy Coan shut down Maconaquah’s offense almost single handedly, striking out 19 batters. The only hit for the Braves came from Freshman Shaela Brazzel.

Pitching for the Braves was Sophomore Blayklee Buman. Who allowed 3 earned runs, 5 hits, struck out 5, and walked one.

Coach Carson thoughts…”We are a young team with only 4 returning starters. I knew going into tonight that we were facing a good team in Eastern that was going to test us.

We saw some good things defensivly. We have alot of girls playing new positions. Blayklee did a great job for us in the circle. She is a fierce competitor. Our defense kept us in the game.

Offensively we were a non factor. Credit goes to Macy Coan who is a great pitcher. However in order for us to be successful, we have to put the ball in play.

Freshman Shaella Brazzel looked like a veteran with 3 great at bats, and played solid at first base. All the girls had great attitudes in the face of adversity. We will get better as the season goes. We know what we have to work on.”

In the JV game that followed Maconaquah fell to Eastern 11-3 in 5 innings. Stand out performace goes Junior Thea Tyra who went 2 for 3 at the plate and scored 2 runs.

Upcoming games are Wednesday @ Rossville 530 and our home opener against Hamilton Heights Saturday 10 AM.

Maconaquah High School Varsity Baseball falls to Blackford High School 5-4

The Braves played very well defensively with tough plays made by Jackson Collins, Braxton Birner, and Kaleb Shelton.

The Braves received mutli hit games from Bennett Isenburg (3-4, two doubles), Kaleb Shelton (3-4, 2 RBI) and Jackson Collins (2-3, 2 doubles).

Brandon Smitley pitched well but took the loss on the mound for the Braves.

“I feel like we played well enough to win tonight, but came up short in the end. I think our best baseball is still in front of us this season”.
