Manchester Baseball Falls At Bluffton

The Manchester baseball team fell to Bluffton 13-5 Tuesday.

Ethan Hendrix led off the game with a ball hit to the center field wall. Garrett Sites then followed up with a no doubt moon shot of a homerun to left field. Site’s blast fired up the team as they pushed four runs across in the top of the first.

Gavin Betten was the starter on the mound for the Squires. he lasted 3 1/3 innings. He had 5 strikeouts. Tallon Torpy made his season debut on the mound in relief. Torpy finished the game by throwing the last 2 2/3 innings.

The Squires and Tigers battled back and forth and the game was tied 5-5 going into the bottom of the 5th. The Tigers scored 5 to separate themselves from the Squires. The Squires failed to mount a comeback over the last 2 innings. The Squires compiled 10 hits and 5 steals offensively.

Reiss Gaerte led the team’s offensive charge by going 3-3 at the plate and stealing 3 bases. Garrett Sites demonstrated unbelievable power at the plate by hitting two homeruns.

The Squires travel to Eastern Wednesday for their second consecutive weekday road game. The team looks to build off of the bright spots from Tuesday night.
