Maconaquah High School Girls Varsity Tennis beat Hamilton Heights High School 5-0

The Lady Braves won in a 5-0 sweep against Hamilton Heights. Many close matches were played tonight and great sportsmanship was observed from both teams.

The Lady Braves will be back Saturday (4/15) at Carrol (Flora) at 10:00AM.

Maconaquah High School Varsity Baseball falls to Western High School 6-2

Maconaquah Braves Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-2 loss to Western on Thursday.

Caiden Richards led things off on the mound for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The righthander allowed four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three. MJ Ellis and Bennett Isenburg entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.

Jacob Isley went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Maconaquah Braves Varsity in hits.

Kaleb Shelton, Braxton Birner, and Brandon Smitley also had hits for the Braves.

Maconaquah High School Boys Varsity Golf falls to Western High School 189-194

The Maconaquah boys Varsity golf team shaved 16 strokes off their previous round but came up short at Chippendale against host Western on a gorgeous spring evening.

Western’s #1 player, Collen Snerdle(sp?) had the hi-lite of the event as he hit a “hole-in-one” on the par 3 #17. He ended the round as medalist for the event with a 37.

Freshman, Cameron Metcalf, was Mac’s low scorer with a 44 as he finished the night chipping in on #18.

The Braves #4 player, Billy Guinan, put together a career best outing of 47 to finish the night as the team’s #2 scorer. Ayden Jernagan and Lane Brehmer finished the Braves scoring with rounds of 51 and 52 respectively.

Ryan Ousley and Cody Miller each shot 54 and Jakob Grant fired a 58.

The competition is tight and should make for an interesting season as each Brave must work to hold a spot in the top 5.

The Braves are back in action Monday at Rock Hollow against the Kings of Lewis Cass, 4:30 start.
