Maconaquah High School Varsity Baseball beat Northfield Jr-Sr High School 4-2

In the first inning, Maconaquah Braves Varsity got their offense started when Tomlinson induced Brandon Smitley to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Kaleb Shelton was the winning pitcher for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine. MJ Ellis threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen ofr the save.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity racked up seven hits. Bennett Isenburg and Ellis managed two hits apiece for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. Trace Armstrong,Jacob Isley, and Haydon Chance each added a single for the Braves . Maconaquah Braves Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Jacob Isley had the most chances in the field with 12.

Jackson Colloins made several good plays at 3B tonight.

The Braves play Thursday at Tri-Central.

Maconaquah High School Varsity Softball beat Northfield Jr-Sr High School 18-6

Maconaquah (5-4) out mercy rules Northfield (1-6) to take the TRC Conference opener.

The Braves get going in the first with 2 out when Buman, Brazzel, Carson, and Scarlett string together 4 hits.

Buman blanks Northfield in the bottom of the first striking out 2.

The Braves score 5 in the second on 5 hits. Bunch, Rader, Barnes, Buman, and Scarlett getting hits.

Northfield battles back with 2 hits and a home run against Bailey Carson in the circle. 8-4 Maconaquah leads after 2.

Macaonquah opens the game up in the top of the 3rd with 4 more runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Clifton, Rader, Barnes, Brazzel, and Carson. 12-4 Maconaquah.

The Braves hold Northfield in the 3rd, and pour it on in the top of the 4th scoring 6 more runs on 9 hits and one sacrifice squeeze play. Tyra 2 hits, Bunch, Clifton, Rader, Barnes (Squeeze bunt), Wibel, Brazzel (2 run HR), Carson, Scarlett all producing. 18-4 Maconaquah.

Braves allow 2 more runs in the 4th and 5th Mercy Ruling Northfield 18-6.

Coachs thoughts. “The girls came to play tonight. We were patient at the plate and hit the ball solid throughout the batting order. Our defense played well. Northfield put the ball in play and we handled it well. We only had 4 outs via strikout and 9 outs made by the fielders which is good. Great way for us to start conference play.”

Maconaquah travels down to Ben Davis Friday and Saturday for a 4 game tourney against some 4A large schools. Games times Friday 530 PM, Saturday 9AM, 11AM, and 130PM.
