Oak Hill High School Boys Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Madison-Grant/Blackford/Faith Christian

The OHTF Golden Eagles got three wins in a home quad meet Tuesday over Madison Grant (64.5), Blackford (50), and Faith Christian (13) to remain undefeated on the season at 11-0. In all the Golden Eagle Men won just 4 running events but managed to win all 5 field events to total 116.5 points.

Resting many of their top athletes and or limiting their events on the track in prep for Friday’s Grant 4 Championship the Golden Eagles relied on their field events and younger athletes to score the bulk of their points. Junior Tai Johsnson led the way as the only 2 individul event winner. Johnson won both the Shot Put and the Discus. Senior teammates Silas Jones and Wyat Strange close behind in both with Jones runner up in the Shot Put and Strange a strong 3rd in Disc. Seniors Kyle Turanchick and Landon Biegel took the Long Jump and High Jump with Senior Caleb Kroll and Junior Levi Trexler helping the Golden Eagles go 1-2-3 in the Long Jump. Junior Nate Brower and Senior Grant Elzinga went 1-2 in the Pole Vault to earn the field event sweep.

The Golden Eagles won just 2 individual running events behind Junior Toby Sneed’s 1600 Meter Run win and Sophomore Lance Wyrick’s win in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Behind Sneed in the 1600 was classmate AJ Austin in 2nd who broke the 5 minutes barrier in the 1600 for the first time. Making him 1 of 86 athletes to break 5 in program history.

The Golden Eagles also managed wins in 2 of the 3 relays. The 4×100 Meter Relay team including Turanchich, Trexler, along with Sophomores Micah McKinney and Morshown Cotton took 1st while McKinney and Cotton joined Wyrick and Fresman Marc Caritos to win the 4×400 Meter Relay.

The Golden Eagles are back in action this Friday April 28th as they host the Grant 4 Championship.

Oak Hill High School Girls Varsity Track finishes 1st place at Madison-Grant/Blackford/Faith Christian

The OHTF Lady Eagles got three wins in a home quad meet Tuesday over Faith Christian (69), Blackford (40), and Madison Grant (32). In all the Lady Eagle Women won just 2 running events and 2 field events but managed 8 runner ups finishes and 6 3rds to total 102 points and move their record to 13-1.

Resting many of their top athletes and or limiting their events on the track in prep for Friday’s Grant 4 Championship the Lady Eagles relied on their field events and younger athletes to score the bulk of their points. Senior Lauren Rex and Sophomore Ellie Campbell both earned wins the the field events at Rex took top honors in the Shot Put with Campbell winning the Long Jump. Sophomore Jennessa Shields took 2nd to Rex in the Shot Put for a clean 1-2 sweep. Freshmen Sarah Beth Tripp and Madelyn Cheek grabbed 4th and 5th respectively to claim 4 of the top 5 scoring spots in the event. Rex also added a 2nd in the Discus to her night as the Lady Eagles took 2-3-4-5 in the event with Senior Haley McDowell taking 3rd behind Rex, Sophomore Aubrey Warnock tossing a big lieftime best to take 4th, and Tripp taking 5th. Another runner up field event finish was Freshman Amelia McClain in the Pole Vault.

On the track Freshma Biruk Travis won the Lady Eagle’s lone individual running event taking the 800 Meter Run. Junior Leah Highley took 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash posting a time of 26.8 which is the 2nd fastest time in the program history in the event and fastest ever handheld. Her new personal best moves her past Lady Eagle alum Danielle Thompson.

The Lady Eagle’s 4×100 Meter Relay team took 1st as well. Team members were Freshmen Ava Miller and Audrey Rex along with Sophomores Cail Bowlin and Riley Alfandre.

Freshma Lexi Nuber took 2nd in the 300 Meter Hurdles with Senior Kate Thompson close behind in 3rd. Sophomore Bella Taylor also grabbed a runner up spot tkaing 2nd in the 100 Meter Hurdles.

Both the 4×400 Meter Relay and 4×800 Meter Relay teams took 2nd place points as well.

The Lady Eagles are back in action this Friday April 28th as they host the Grant 4 Championship.
