Boys Varsity Baseball falls to Tippecanoe Valley 5 – 4

Monday’s game against Tippecanoe Valley was a heartbreaker for Maconaquah Braves Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at three with Tippecanoe Valley batting in the bottom of the sixth when Marcel grounded out, scoring one run.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity lost despite out-hitting Tippecanoe Valley seven to three.

Maconaquah Braves Varsity knotted the game up at four in the top of the seventh inning. Maconaquah Braves Varsity scored one run when Zane Lahrman singled.

MJ Ellis was on the mound for Maconaquah Braves Varsity. The righty lasted six innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out six. Kaleb Shelton threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Bennett Isenburg led Maconaquah Braves Varsity with two hits in three at bats. Haydon Chance also has two hits for the Braces.

Maconaquah’s Varsity Golf team took top honors in a 3-way event at Rock Hollow in Peru, Tuesday evening.

Freshman, Camron Metcalf was the low score of the match with 46 followed by Billy Guinan’s 47 and Ayden Jernagan’s 49. Lane Brehmer finished the Brave scoring with a 53. Cody Miller added a 59 for the 5th varsity spot.

In JV action, Ryan Ousley shot a 59, Carsten Hollars 60, Joe Butcher III and Eli Price shot 62 and Jakob Grant 67.

The varsity squad travels to Warsaw’s Rozella Ford Golf Course to compete in the Three Rivers Conference Golf match on Saturday with an early 7:30 shot gun start.
