Norse/Knights Wrap Up Golf Season
The Northfield and Southwood golf teams played in the Warsaw regional Thursday. Northfield finished 9th while Southwood placed 15th
Northfield Boys’ Golf finished up their incredible season competing in the Regional for a chance to move on to the State Championship. The top 3 teams advance as well as the top 2 individual low scores, (excluding those who advance with the team.)
The Norsemen fell short with a 337 on the day at no easy place to play in Stonehenge. Tees stations were played from the tips playing over 7,000 yards for the 18 holes.
The Norse competed well given the tall task. Tyson Baer would fall just short of moving on with a 72(1 over par). Baer won his Sectional individually and finished in the top 5 of the entire Regional in a field of 90 players. Just last year, the top 5 advanced to State but new IHSAA rulings only advance 2 players.
The Norsemen finished the regular season with a record of 17-1, Northfield Cole Memorial Invite Champions,Wabash Invitational Champions, 2X TRC Champions, as well as 2nd place Sectional to advance for the second time in school history.
Southwood shot a 374 for the 15th place finish.
Luke Watson was team medalist 42/42 – 84, Griffin Chambers 47/43 – 90, Keaton Metzger 40/540 – 94, Ian Vanderpool 48/56 – 104, and Jordan Trisler was DQ.
