Norse JH XC Wins Mississinewa Invite

The Northfield boys and girls junior high cross country teams won the Mississinewa Invite Saturday.

Girls Middle School Cross Country finishes 1st place at Mississinewa Invitational

Placing 5 runners in the top 10 the Northfield Middle School Lady Norse defended their title at the Mississinewa Invitational Saturday morning in Gas City.

Leading the Lady Norse and setting a new course record, Kaleigh Rice won in a time of 12:09. Teagan Baer, 4th, Addi Hawkens, 5th, Ali Copeland, 6th, and Andrea Widemon, 8th, led the Norse in scoring. Sheila Smith, 20th, Haylee Bucher, 21st, and Isabella See, 23rd, rounded out the Norse.

Hawkens, Widemon, Smith, Bucher and See all ran lifetime bests. It was a most awesome morning and the Lady Norse harriers set the tone for even greater performances to come this season.

The Lady Norse will go for their 3rd straight Northfield Invitational next Saturday at the Wabash Field of Dreams.

Boys Middle School Cross Country finishes 1st place at Mississinewa Invitational

Taking 4 of the top 10 positions, the Northfield Middle School Boys Cross Country team started the season off with a first place finish Saturday morning at the Mississinewa Invitational held in Gas City. It is the 2nd year in a row to win this event.

Bode Sorg finished 2nd overall as the top 2 runners bested the previous course record by 20 seconds. Preston Moore, 4th, Hudson Haupert, 5th, Nate Hodson, 7th, and Maesyn Jones, 19th, rounded out the scoring. Gavin Lester, 20th, and Bentley Sutterby, 23rd, both earned ribbons and completed the top 7 for the Norse. 6 of the 7 Norsemen finished with lifetime best performances to start the season.

The Norse are back in action at their own Invitational next Saturday at the Wabash Field of Dreams.

The Northfield girls finished third in the high school race. Coming in first for the Lady Norse was Madeline Moore placing 6th overall with a time of 24:28. Following close behind Moore was Trinity Bever in 24:56, Mara Zolman in 25:53 and rounding out the team was Olia Leffert in a time of 29:43.

The Northfield boys finished fourth. Ryland Miller placed 8th with a time of 19:13. Following Miller was Eli Gahl with a time of 20:03, Eli Mattern in 21:15, Kourtland Pratt in 21:24, Holten Satterthwaite in 22:56, Xavier Roark 23:00, Ethan Hoover in 24:43 and rounding out the team was Ashton Aderman in a time of 28:38.
