Squire Tennis Wins Rain Shortened Match
The Manchester boys tennis team beat the rain and defeated Bluffton, 3-0, Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Peyton Jones won his match at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, for Manchester’s first point.
The final two points came from the doubles teams with the No. 2 team of Owen Harshman and Caleb Struble-Hedstrom cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 win, followed minutes later by the No. 1 team of Cole Henderson and Connor Trump, 6-4, 6-3, playing the final points with rain starting to fall.
In the other singles matches, Josh Steely was leading, 6-3, 4-2, at No. 2, while Sammie Lambert trailed at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 4-2.
In JV play, Brendyn Mugford won, 8-4, at No. 1 singles while the doubles team of A.J. Weaver and Jose Lopez de Uralde were leading their doubles match and Milo Hupp was up in singles before rain stopped play.
The Squires improved to 3-2 and will travel to the West Noble Invitational Saturday, Sept. 2.
