Squires Hold Off Apaches In Double Overtime

The Manchester and Wabash football teams needed double overtime to decide a winner with the Squires defeating the Apaches 27-21.

Manchester would strike first in the first quarter on a Preston Duffy 3yd run for a 7-0 lead. The Apaches would tie the score with 5:00 left in the quarter when Izaak Wright hooked up with Trevor Daughtry for a 64yd scoring strike to make it 7-7.

Wabash would take the lead in the second quarter with 3:28 left when Wright found Daughtry from 19yds out for a 13-7 lead. The Squires would answer when Reiss Gaerte found pat dirt from 20yds out as time expired to give Manchester a 14-13 lead at the half.

The Apaches would go ahead again in the third when Keaton Fields scored from 12yds away before Wright and Daughtry converted the two point conversion for a 21-14 lead. Gaerte would tie the score with 5:44 left to make it 21-21.

Neither team would score in the fourth to force the overtime.

Each team failed to score in the first overtime. The Manchester defense would step up big, stopping Wabash in the second OT before getting a 2yd run from Duffy for the 27-21 double overtime win.
