OHXC Lady Eagles Take 3rd in 22 Team Wildcat Invitational – Travis, Highley, Woodard, Rowland All Medal

The OHXC Lady Eagles had one of their better showings on the early season Saturday competing in the Wildcat Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Lady Eagles competed and ultiamtely took 3rd in the Grey 22 Team Small School Division. It was the 3rd straight weekend the Lady Eagles earned a Top 3 finish in a large Invitational.

Adam Central, currently one of the top ranked small school programs in the state, won the team title with 48 points. Woodlan was 2nd 73 with the Lady Eagles closely behind with 83. Daleville was 4th while Carroll of Flora took 5th.

Sophomore Lady Eagle Biruk Travis posted her best time of the season in 19:56 to earn a 4th Place Medal. Joining Travis on the Top 35 Medal Podium were Senior Leah Highley 10th, Junior Audrey Woodard 16th, and Sophomore Sophia Rowland 32nd. All three also set season best times with Woodard just 10 seconds off a lifetime best.

Freshman Erika Newhouse rounded out the Top 5 scorers with a 38th Place just missing a Medal. Junior Abby Sneed was 42nd and Sophomore Kaitlyn Scalf rounded out the Varsity Top 7 in 62nd. Sophomore Lydia Trexler took 65th with Freshman Quinn Brunner coming in 74th respectively. Junior Eily Hawk finished off the Varsity Top 10 runners in 80th.

The Lady Eagles compete again Tuesday September 19th in the Grant 4 Championship held at Oak Hill. Travis will compete Saturday September 16th in the West Noble Invitational.

OHXC Golden Eagles Take 6th in 27 Team Elite Race at IWU – Jackson Ties School Record, Sweet Runs 5th Best Time Ever

The OHXC Golden Eagles for the 2nd straight weekend battled some the state’s very best in Saturday’s Wildact Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. Depending on the ranking system the 27 team Elite Red Division Race featured 8 Top 30 Ranked teams including OHXC. The Golden Eagles posted a 6th place finish with 242 just behind Harrison (West Lafayette). Hamilton Southeastern ranked 8th in the state won the event with 96 points while #19 Penn was 2nd with 107. #21 Greenfield Central was 3rd, #24 Homestead 4th. OHXC did manage to beat #2 ranked Noblesville and #5 ranked Fishers who both however sat a majority of their varsity line up.

Seniors Owen Jackson and Trenton Sweet led the way as the Golden Eagle’s only Top 35 Podium Medalists.

Jackson took a strong 5th overall in 15:41 – a new lifetime personal best and a time for the moment that ties him with the School Record with Brent Grogan who ran 15:41 in 1992. Jackson’s time is also the fastest ever by an OHXC athlete at the IWU course. Sweet took 8th overall in 15:50 breaking the 16 minute barrier for the 1st time in his career. Sweet’s time is the 5th All Time in Program History behind now Jackson and Grogan, Alan Thomas, and four time State Qualifier Cameron Balser. Jackson and Sweet became the first duo in Program Hisotry to break 16 minutes in the same meet. Sweet’s time is the 2nd fastest ever for an OHXC athlete on the IWU course behind only Jackson.

Senior Toby Sneed was 58th in 16:52 while Sophomore Corban Tippey was 75th in 17:04. Sophomore Brayden Sommers was the 5th man in 123rd with Senior AJ Austin close behind in 133rd. Only six Golden Eagles competed in the Elite Division.

Freshman Kyle Brower won the JV race.

The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday September 16th in the West Noble Invitational.

Girls Varsity Golf finishes 1st place at Grant 4

The Lady Eagles played their best golf of the year and won the Grant 4 Championship for the second consecutive year. All 5 Oak Hill golfers shot their best scores of the year.
