Wabash Wins County Tennis Battle Over Manchester
The Wabash boys tennis team pulled out two 3-set matches to clinch a 4-1 win at Manchester Thursday, Sept. 14.
Wabash took a 2-1 lead after the Apaches’ No. 1 singles player, Grant Ford, defeated Josh Steely, 6-3, 6-1, followed by Troy Guenin-Hodson defeating Manchester’s Caleb Struble-Hedstrom, 6-2, 6-0.
Manchester’s No. 2 doubles team of Sammie Lambert and Owen Harshman cruised over TJ Fritter and Ashton Coffman, 6-0, 6-3.
At No. 2 singles, Wabash’s Eli Mattern clinched the team win for the Apaches by defeating Peyton Jones, 6-1, 7-6 (6), and the No. 1 doubles team of Alex Dinkins and Cooper Long came from behind to beat Manchester’s Cole Henderson and Connor Trump, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
The Squires droped to 6-5 and 2-2 in the TRC. They travel to Columbia City on Monday, Sept. 18.
