Top 25 Ranked OHXC Golden Eagles Win 41 Team Culver Academy Invitational – Jackson & Sweet Go 1-2, Sneed & Tippey Medal

The OHXC Golden Eagles returned to the historic 41st Annual Culver Academy Invitational Saturday competing in the 41 team Closed Small School Division (sub 900 enrollment). Behind a 1-2 finish from the Senior standout duo of Owen Jackson and Trenton Sweet the Golden Eagles nearly doubled up the field outpacing host Culver 64-123 to win the team title. The Golden Eagles racing in their 3rd 5k in the last 8 days elected to stay in the Closed Division. South Bend St. Joseph was 3rd with 159 points and Wawasee 4th in 165.

Jackson ran away from Sweet and the field over the last 1,000 meters to win his 3rd major individual title of the week – also leading the Golden Eagles to their 3rd major Team Title of the week. His winning time of 16:17 put him in 12 seconds ahead of Sweet the Runner Up in 16:29.

Classmate Toby Sneed along with Sophomore Corban Tippey both also had strong days earned Top 30 Podium Medals in 12th and 13th respectively. Senior AJ Austin rounded out the Varsity scoring Top 5 in 40th.

Freshman Kyle Brower 51st and Sophomore Brayden Sommers 74th were the only other Varsity competitors.

The Golden Eagles who were ranked in the Top 25 in the State in two different polls this past week compete in the Central Indiana Conference Championship Meet Saturday September 30th at IWU.

OHXC Lady Eagles Finish 7th in 41 Team Culver Academy Invitational – Travis & Highley Medal

The OHXC Lady Eagles returned to the historic 41st Annual Culver Academy Invitational Saturday competing in the 41 team Closed Small School Division (sub 900 enrollment). Behind a Top 10 Podium finish from Sophomore Biruk Travis the Lady Eagles placed a highly respectable 7th with 225 points. Maconaquah, a 2023 State Meet Qualifier, won the event with 121 points.

Competing in her 3rd 5k race in just 8 days Travis finished a strong 8th overall in 20:23. Senior Leah Highley also posted an impressive day earning a Top 30 Podium Medal finishing 22nd in 21:10.

Junior Audrey Woodard was 47th, while Freshman Erika Newhouse was 76th, and Sophomore Sophia Rowland 89th to round out the scoring Top 5.

Junior Abby Sneed and Freshman Lilly Snyder closed out the Varsity Top 7 in 113th and 126th. Other Varsity runners were Freshman Quinn Brunner in 131st, Sophomore Lydia Trexler 150th, and Junior Ellie Campbell 157th.

The Lady Eagles compete in the Central Indiana Conference Championship Meet Saturday September 30th at IWU.

Girls Varsity Soccer 2023 CIC Champs!

The Lady Eagles defeated Blackford 4-1 tonight. This was the final CIC matchup for the Eagles, and with the win the Lady Eagles became the first ever girls soccer CIC champions. The Eagles went perfect 4-0 in conference this season.

Scoring for the Eagles were Landri Hardman (2), Bella Foustnight (1), and Audrey Rex (1).

The team improves 9-1-2 on the season. Next week, the Eagles are home Monday and Wednesday at 6 PM. Then the team travels to Manchester on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.
