Girls Varsity Basketball falls to Mississinewa 61 – 38

The Tigers traveled to Gas City to face the Mississinewa Indians in a non-conference matchup Saturday night. The Tigers came out strong holding a 11-9 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers then struggled with transition defense and gave up to many easy baskets to maintain any momentum and found themselves in a halftime deficit down 23-15. The Indians grew that lead to 20 in the 3rd quarter after the Tigers took quick shots and let the Indians continue to get out into transition and convert easy baskets. The Tigers showed life at the start of the 4th quarter cutting the lead to 12, but never got closer than that as transition continued to stifle the Tigers comeback attempts which ultimately lead to the final deficit as the Tigers could not get key stops. Leading the Tigers offensively was Addison Robbins with a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Mareiona Mason had 11 points, 2 rebs, and 3 assists. Maliyah Dunn had 4 points and 2 rebounds. Brooklyn Garner had 2 points and 5 rebounds. Kaylene Kirk had 2 points and 4 rebounds. Madalyn Gatliff had 2 points and 4 rebounds. Peyton Wideman, Kyannah Correll, and Emmy Thompson all chipped in with 1 rebound a piece. The Tigers are now 0-2 on the season and travel to Caston Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup. JV tipoff is set for 6:00 with varsity to follow.
