The Manchester womens and mens wrestling teams fell to Rochester Saturday.
In a competitive showcase of talent at the Rochester Invitational on Saturday, the Manchester High School Squire Girls wrestling team was represented by Adriana Escudero and Katelynn Leckrone.
Adriana Escudero demonstrated resilience and determination, securing a 6th-place finish with a record of 1-3 for the day.
As a rookie for the team, Katelynn Leckrone put up a solid fight, displaying promising skills in her matches. Leckrone concluded the day with a record of 1-2.
Looking ahead, the Lady Squires are set to face the Peru Tigers in an upcoming match on Tuesday, November 21st.
In the opening match of the 2023/24 wrestling season, the Manchester Squires faced a strong opponent in the Class A #1 Ranked Rochester team on Friday, ultimately falling with a team score of 49-21 in favor of Rochester. Despite the team’s overall result, individual standout performances showcased the Squires’ resilience and skill.
Rex Moore (113), Tallon Selleck (144), and Isaiah Burlingame (144) secured victories for the Squires by fall. Bryan Fields (175) contributed to the team’s score with a hard-fought win by decision.
However, the Squires faced challenges in several weight classes, leading to losses by decision for Jose Cortes (150), Peyton Neal (165), Jeffery Ruckman (190), and Preston Duffy (215). The absence of competitors in some weight classes added complexity to the team scoring, posing a significant challenge for the Manchester Squires.
Looking forward, the team will seek to build on the positives from individual successes while addressing areas for improvement as they prepare for their next meet against Peru on Tuesday, November 21st
