Manchester Girls/Boys Split With Oak Hill

The Manchester girls and boys basketball teams played host to Oak Hill Saturday. The Lady Squires fell to the Eagles while the boys dominated Oak Hill.

The Lady Squires fell to Oak Hill 38-27.

It was a tough night for the Lady Squires as they could never get going on either end of the floor. Despite some good spurts, the Lady Eagles had the advantage at the end.

The Manchester Squires boys varisty basketball team started their season off with a 79-49 win over the visiting Oak Hill Eagles. The Squires defensive pressure began to force a lot of turnovers in the second quarter, and they began to open up a double-digit lead.

Gavin Betten reversed his backwards shorts at the half. Oak Hill cut the lead to four points before the Squires went on a run and got the lead to 18 entering the 4th quarter. The 4th quarter was owned by the Squires as they outscored Oak hill 25-13.

Leading the team in scoring was Gavin Betten with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ethan Hendrix and a very efficient game and provided 18 points and 6 rebounds. Other scorers for the Squires were Gavin Martin 9, Tallon Torpy 8, Tyler McLain 6, Garrett Sites 8, and Kaleb Kline 6.

The Squires begin a long stretch of away games and will travel to Lakewood Park on Tuesday evening.
