Lady Knights Fall To Mississinewa


The Southwood Lady Knights led at the half before falling to Mississinewa 50-44 Wednesday.

The Knights got two quick buckets from Emmerson Chellis to grab a 4-0 lead. Lola Winer would add two buckets to make it 8-5 before the Indians grabbed a 10-8 lead. Lili Combs would then tie the score to make it 10-10 after one.

Chellis and Combs would keep the scored tied at 14 before Mississinewa scored six straight to lead 20-16. Gracie Lambert would stop the run with a three. Down 22-19 Winer would go on her own 7-0 run, which included a near half court buzzer beater to give Southwood a 26-22 lead at the half.

The Indians would come out hot in the third, scoring the first 11 points to grab a 33-26 lead before Chellis hit two free throws with 1:55 left in the quarter. Down 35-28 Winer would hit a three and the Knights got a free throw from Aubree Huffman to make it 35-32 after three.

Mississinewa would build a 10 point lead early in the fourth before the Knights made one more push. Lambert would hit a three and a two, to close the deficit to 46-41 before falling 50-44.

The Southwood junior varsity defeated Mississinewa 27-24
