Manchester Swims Past Elwood

The Manchester swim teams defeated Elwood Monday.

The Manchester girls swim team won every event en route to a 113-40 victory over Elwood. The Squire relays started the meet by sweeping the 200 medley relay led by the team of Elena Lawrence, Victoria Lopez de Uralde Ortiz, Joanna Eberly, and Raegen Shah. Rachel Garcia easily won the 200 freestyle as did Lawrence in the 200 IM. Joanna Eberly was tops in the 50 freestyle and Garcia, Miriam Struble-Hedstrom, and Adia Selleck swept the 100 butterfly with a 1-2-3 finish. Lawrence picked up her third victory of the night in the 100 freestyle and Evyn Fox and Hannah Eberly finished 1-2 in the 500 freestyle. The Squire relays continued their dominance with a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle relay led by the winning relay of Raegen Shah, Trinity Bradley, Kadence Fox, and Evyn Fox. Raegen Shah picked up her third victory by winning the 100 backstroke. In the 100 breaststroke, Joanna Eberly, Evyn Fox, and Victoria Lopez de Uralde Ortiz finished 1-2-3. Manchester capped off their dominant evening by finishing 1-2 in the 400 freestyle relay led by the team of Garcia, Lawrence, Hannah Eberly, and Joanna Eberly. Manchester will be back in the pool on Wednesday when they host Tippecanoe Valley.

Behind quadruple winner Cale Bennett and triple winners Cam Peacock and Jet Thomas, the Manchester boys swim team beat Elwood 81-59. Invidually, Peacock took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, Bennett was tops in the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle, and Thomas won the 200 IM. Peacock, Bennett, and Thomas teamed with Luca Jelen to finish first in the 200 medley relay and Bennett joined Thomas, Gabe Selleck, and Caleb Struble-Hedstrom to win the 400 free relay. Thomas (100 backstroke), Selleck (200 freestyle, 100 freestyle), and Struble-Hedstrom (200 IM) all picked up second place finishes. The 200 freestyle relay of Jelen, Peacock, Selleck, and Struble-Hedstrom finished second as well. Manchester is back in action on Wednesday when they host Tippecanoe Valley.
