Boys Varsity Basketball falls to Frankton 53 – 37

The Boys Varsity dropped their CIC game at Frankton tonight 37-53. After a tight first quarter, which saw Frankton edging out the Golden Eagles 9-6, Frankton put up 21 points in the 2nd quarter to our 6. The Golden Eagles fought hard in the 2nd half winning that half 25-23, but couldn’t overcome the halftime deficit ultimately falling 37-53.

Ty Fagan had all our points in the 1st quarter with two rebound put back and ones. He finished with those 6 points and 11 rebounds. RJ Shugart helped rally the Eagles in the third quarter with 8 of his 10 points. Levi Trexler also scored 6 of his team high 12 points in the 3rd quarter. Off the bench with some big minutes for the Golden Eagles were freshman Luke Elzinga with 4 points and Owen Middlesworth with 3. Rounding out the scoring was Colin Middlesworth with 2. Although he wasn’t in the scoring column today, senior Trenton Sweet helped lead the defensive in steals with his aggressive play. The Golden Eagles travel to Western Tuesday night with the C Team tipping off at 5pm, followed by the JV, then the Varsity.
