Thoughts from Coach Thompson:

“The Vikes picked up our first win of the season vs South Bend Adams in the 10:00 am game in our Huntington North Holiday Hoops Trny. Coaching staff is very proud of them. The guys showed great mental toughness battling adversity today improving on both sides of the ball as each game comes our way. Vikings are gaining confidence within themselves; within the the system.”

NEXT GAME: Huntington North (1-7 and 0-1 in NE8) will host East Chicago Central @ 6 pm this evening (12-28).

The Vikings battled back from a 17 point deficit at the half (24-41), but it wasn’t enough. To start the 3rd quarter, the Vikings went on a 9-0 run (33-41). By the end of the 3rd, the score was cut to 7 (41-48)

The fourth quarter was most exciting! The game looked promising when the Vikings tied the game at 51 with 5:21 left, then again when it was tied at 56 with 2:34 left. Unfortunately, that’s when East Chicago pulled away. The Vikings could not get a shot to fall for the remainder of the game and East Chicago hit their free throws. The final score was 56-62.

The Vikings play again at home tomorrow against Fort Wayne Snider with a 2pm tip off. In the 3rd Place game of the Holliday Hoops Tournament.
