Lady Braves beats Peru 47 – 29 in the Miami County Holiday Tournament

Tournament to play the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Braves played well offensively in the first two quarters. In the 1st quarter Miranda Stoll and Bailey Carson both came out and firing from the 3-point line. Carson also did a nice job of attacking the basket. The Lady Braves took a 13-8 lead after the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, it was the combination of Miranda Stoll, Sydney Barnes, Ireland Kile and Chloe Smyth that did the scoring. In that quarter Stoll went 4-4 from the free line. Kile, Barnes and Smyth all added a basket to help the Lady Braves take a 27-18 lead at halftime.

In the 2nd half, it was the Lady Braves defensive and rebounding effort that really made the difference and help them stretch their lead out. The Lady Braves held Peru to just 11 points total in the 2nd half. The defense of Bailey Carson on the Peru guards caused turnovers and the collective teamwork on the boards were outstanding. Shaelyn Powell had 5 rebounds (all in the 2nd half). Miranda Stoll finished with 7 rebounds, Aubrey Kaiser had 6 rebounds, Sydney Barnes had 6 rebounds. Ireland Kile, Hallie Maiben and Bailey Carson all had 3 rebounds apiece.

In the scoring column, the Lady Braves were led by Miranda Stoll with 20 points. In the 1st quarter, Stoll hit two 3-point shots that made her the Career Leader in Made 3FG at Maconaquah. She passed, Lady Brave Assistant Coach, Lilly Maple who finished her career with 116 made 3FG. Bailey Carson finished with 8 points, Ireland Kile had 7 points, Hallie Maiben had 4 points, Sydney Barnes had 3 points, Chloe Smyth and Aubrey Stoll both had 2 points and Aubrey Kaiser had 1 point.

The Miami County Holiday Tournament also named two different teams. Miranda Stoll was named to the Miami County All-Tournament team for her play in the two games.

They also name an All-Academic Honors team, and the Lady Braves had ALL 13 varsity players and two managers named to that team. Great work in the classroom ladies!!

The Lady Braves next game is Saturday, January 6 against TRC tow, Wabash. That game will also be the “Braves vs Cancer” game. The Lady Braves will be wearing their pink uniforms and they will be having a silent action on those uniforms. They will also be selling tickets for the opportunity to win the game ball from that night. All money will go towards a family in need in the Maconaquah community. You can contact Coach Davis in advance if you would like to donate to this event. His email is davisr@maconaquah.k12.in.us

Coach Burrus Quotes: “What a game to be part of. So proud of the kids. Everyone turned it up to bring home the championship. I thought everyone that came to support us had an impact on the game. It was fun to win but a very proud moment. Thanks to every fan who came out to support us. I told the team when we were preparing to leave to go to the game that our job is to bring the community, together! I believe we did that. Every player contributed. Every fan did too.”
