The Warriors had 3 undefeated wrestlers at Team State and finished one place above the 8th seed they entered the tournament with. North Miami had a big win against Cascade to start the day, but then suffered a loss against No. 1 Adams Central in the Quarterfinals. In the third round South Adams picked up the victory by winning a few swing matches despite Junior Jordan Korreckt getting a dominating 6-0 win against a ranked Starfire. In the final dual of the day North Miami crushed no. 2 seed West Central, which was capped off by the third pin of the day from Junior Riley Kling. The Warriors had a good showing in their first appearance at Team State and hope to use it as a learning experience for an event the team is hoping to qualify for every year. North Miami returns to action on the road Thursday at 6pm looking to spoil Northfield’s Senior Night.

Hopefully with this game being the last of a tough stretch for the Warriors, they head to Manchester to take on the Squires. Like Peru, the Squires are at the top of the TRC rankings and taking on a struggling North Miami squad this season. The Warriors are currently on an 8 game losing streak, and two of the last three have been to Peru over the last week and a half. Facing a team that’s much too similar to Peru’s playing style shouldn’t be a difficulty for the Warriors, now that they have plenty of experience from Peru. NM looks to handle Manchester’s pressure like they did Peru’s in the first quarter Tuesday and compete in this TRC matchup.

As expected, Manchester brought the pressure early on and North Miami looked like they weren’t expecting it. The Warriors turned the ball over in the press too many times in the first quarter and allowed too many easy buckets for the Squires in the backcourt. Even after breaking the press, the Warriors rushed their shots up and couldn’t get them to fall. Manchester had a commanding 31-8 lead after the first and were only going to look to add on. The Squires did just that, keeping their press on and finishing a lot of fast breaks on turnovers. Manchester scored 37 more in the second and seemed to have this game in the bag after the first half. Much didn’t change in the second half for either side, other than the press was off. Manchester kept scoring and North Miami kept struggling. The game finally came to an end and it didn’t come soon enough, as the Warriors scored a season-low 20 points, and Manchester a season-high 102.

This game was by far the toughest for the Warriors this season, and probably will be after it’s over. The losing streak now hits 9 on the season, and NM drops to 0-4 in TRC play. Now that the rough stretch appears to be over for the Warriors, hopefully this next week shows more positive results. Starting Tuesday, the Warriors will have three games during the week, with back-to-back on Friday and Saturday. They will host Argos on Tuesday, then will travel to Northfield then North Judson to close out the busy week.
