Manchester Swimming Splits With Bluffton
The Manchester swim teams split with Bluffton Thursday.
Boys Varsity Swimming falls to Bluffton
The Manchester boys swim team fell to a large Bluffton squad 141-35. Cam Peacock led the Squires with a pair of second place finishes. Peacock was out-touched in the 200 freestyle despite swimming a lifetime best time and was a close second in the 100 breaststroke. Jet Thomas finished second in the 200 IM and Cale Bennett finished a close second in the 500 freestyle. Despite the tough loss, nearly all the boys swam at least one season best time. Gabe Selleck, Caleb Struble-Hedstrom, Jerry Yen, and Jan Vrkoc have shown tremendous improvement over the course of the season and look to be rounding into form for the TRC and sectional championship meets. With just 7 swimmers, the boys team finished the dual meet portion of the season with a 3-8 record. The Squires will travel to Oak Hill on Saturday to compete in the Oak Hill Invitational.
Girls Swimming tops Bluffton in Final Dual Meet of the Season
The Manchester girls started slow but won the final 8 events to easily pull away from Bluffton winning 109-56. Rachel Garcia and Joanna Ebelry each took first in two individual events to lead the Squires. Garcia won the 50 freestyle and 500 freestyle while Eberly took first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. Also taking first for Manchester were Noelle Walt in the 100 freestyle and Hannah Eberly in the 100 breaststroke. The 200 freestyle relay consisting of Evyn Fox, Miriam Struble-Hedstrom, Adia Selleck, and Hannah Eberly took first place along with the 400 freestyle relay team of Raegen Shah, Noelle Walt, Joanna Eberly, and Rachel Garcia. The Manchester girls team ended the dual meet portion of the 2023-24 season with a 7-4 record. They travel to Converse this weekend for the Oak Hill Invitational.
