Girls Varsity Basketball beats Eastern Jr/Sr 39 – 23

A successful home finale and senior night for the Lady Eagles! Who finished their regular season with a record of 11-10. The game got off to a sluggish start with a score of 2-4 (Comets lead at the end of the first quarter). The game and the score picked up from there with the Eagles up 16-13 at the half. It was the third quarter that turned the game clearly in the Eagles favor taking a double-digit lead into the fourth. It was a good regular season send-off for the two seniors-Alivia Shaw and Ruth Tripp.

Scoring tonight was lead by Landri Hardman with 8, Liz Godfrey and Lydia Trexler had 7, Alivia Shaw with 6, Morgan Cates with 4, Erika Newhouse with 3 and Ruth Tripp and Kora Pond with 2. Ruth was the one who scored the first two points of the game.

Morgan Cates had 8 rebounds followed by Lydia’s 6 and several more players had three or four rebounds.

Erika Newhouse led the team with 4 assists followed by Alivia Shaw with 3 and several girls with 1.

The next game will be the sectional game vs Belmont at Maconaquah on Wednesday January 31st.

The JV won again 26-4 giving them a record of 19-2. The scoring leaders were Kora Pond and Jolee Hawkins with 6. Sela Sherron and Lilly Edwards both had 5 and Sarah Beth scored 4.
