Lady Kings Win Sectional Title

This has been a special year for the Lady Kings basketball program. The first conference championship in over 23 years… The first Sectional Championship in 19 years, and the first ever 21-win season.

The girls basketball team at Lewis Cass have been on a mission since day one. They have had their goals set and have been locked in since their opening tip on November 4th vs Eastern.

The Lady Kings were able to bring home the 2A Sectional 36 Championship from North Miami with a 45-25 victory over the talented 14-9 Lady Warriors squad.

In another night of balanced scoring from the Kings, Aftin Griffin led the way with 16 points. Heta Kosunen rebounded and battled her way to 9 points of her own. Kinsey Mennen continued her dominant senior year with 8 points and several rebounds. Other scorers for the Kings were Ava Hubner with 3 points, Mylie Sipe with 3, Anna Hedrick with 4, and Lexi Gotshall with 2.

The Lady Kings ended the evening with a pep session at Lewis Cass High School, where athletic Director, Greg Marschand, had a crowd of fans waiting and cheering for the girls as they walked in. A huge thank you to all invovled in making the evening special.

The Lady Kings will face Fremont in the 2A Regional at Winamac on Saturday, Februrary 10th.
