Manchester 7th Girls Win Valley Tournament

The Manchester junior high girls basketball teams played in the Tippecanoe Valley tournament Saturday with the 7th grade bringing home the title.

In the first game at the Tipp Valley Tournament, Manchester defeated Triton, 34-06. The Lady Squires grabbed an early lead in the first quarter 11 to 4 and never looked back outscoring Triton in each of the other 3 quarters. Scoring for the Squires were McKayla Dillon (4), Elin Betten (7), Brooklynn Grimes (10), Hope Dawson (4), Rachel Eberly (5), Clare D’Andrea (2), and Hannah Dawson (2).

The championship game was against Urey. The Lady Squires fought hard the whole game and never gave up coming out on top 26-25. Scoring for the Squires were:

The 8th grade Lady Squires continue to improve throughout the season and are ever so close to winning a weekend tournament! In the first game, the Squires battled against the Triton Trojans and won that game 34-19. The game was close through the 3rd quarter, but the girls poured in 15 points in the 4th quarter to finish off the game. Olivia Stevens paced the Squires scoring with 12 points followed by Shiann Owens (9), Lacy Trump (5), Marysa Stroud (4), Finley Espeset (2) and Lily Sare (2).

In the championship game, the Squires took on the host team Tippy Valley Vikings. The girls outscored the Vikings in 3 out of 4 quarters, but were outscored 13-6 in the 2nd quarter, which proved to be too much to overcome. We scored enough points to win the game, but allowed too many points in that 2nd quarter. Scoring in this game as follows:

For the first time since Dec 19, the Lady Squires will be playing a home game against Wabash on Feb 7th. C
