Boys Varsity Baseball beats Hamilton Heights 11 – 6

The Braves baseball team pulled out a victory tonight over visiting Hamilton Heights. Kaleb Shelton pitched 5 strong innings to secure the victory. He struck out five batters, gave up 1 hit and allowed 3 earned runs. Deven Mitchell closed out the game. He did not allow a run to score while giving up 2 hits and striking out 1 hitter.

Bennett Isenburg started the Braves offensive attack by leading off the game with a solo homerun. The rest of the hitters followed suit by hitting the ball hard all night. Kaleb Shelton lead the Braves at the plate with 3 hits and 5 RBI. The Braves also had hits from Marcell Sims, Zane Lahrman, Jacob Isley, Braxtin Birner, Jaiden Mercer, and Devon Murry.

Coaches quote: “I am really proud of this team. We has a tough game on Saturday and they made a point of resetting their mental approach and it showed with our tough at bats up and down the line up. The seniors showed maturity and leadership tonight. And the young guys settled in and preformed well.”

The Braves are back in action on Wednesday. We host Manchester to start conference play.

Maconaquah Softball Defeat Culver

Maconaquah Softball overcome Culver Academy Eagles in a high scoring affair.

The Braves got up early scoring 3 in the first and 5 in the second inning. However, Culver scratched back with a big fourth inning tieing the game at 9 all.

With a consistant pressure in the batter’s box Maconaquah continued to scoring to close the game out 15 to 11.

Offensively for the Braves the team went 16-40 at the plate with 10 RBIs, 12 Stolen Bases, 4 BB, and only 4 Ks

Blayklee Buman 4-5 2 RBI

Sydney Barnes 3-5 2 RBI

Amaya Rader 2-4 1 RBI 1 BB

Shaela Brazzel 2-5 2 RBI

Also hitting Bailey Carson, Kaitlynn Bunch, Ireland Kile, Thea Tyra, and Anna Clifton.

Defensivly the Braves’ Blayklee Buman was in the circle pitching 7 innings, 10 Ks, only 2 earned runs.

Anna Clifton delivered a double play in the 6th inning by tagging the lead runner and throwing to Barnes at first to beat the batter.

Maconaquah travels to Logansport Tuesday for a 500pm start.

Maconaquah Boys Golf (Varsity & JV) finally had our first match versus Lewis Cass at the Logansport Golf Club. (Our first two matches were rescheduled due to the eclipse and weather.) We could not have asked for any better weather than we had last night.

That being said, there were plenty of first match jitters to go around. However, sophomore Camron Metcalf held the low score for the Braves with a score of 43. Cody Miller, our only senior, and Zack Duke both recorded scores of 47; Aiden Robison rounded came in close behind with a 48. Carsten Hollars was the fifth Varsity score with a 61. The Varsity team score of 185.

The JV was led by Wyatt Swift with a 62; followed by Jakob Grant with a 64. Clay Christopher and Kyle Bockover both recorded scores of 66. Hagan Beverly rounded out the night with a 67.
