Squires Split With Concord
The Manchester baseball team split a double header with Concord Saturday.
The Squires defeated 4A Concord Minutemen in game one of Saturday’s double header. The Squires got things going early by scoring 3 in the bottom of the first inning. The Squires led the entire game. Harper Sturtsman had another great performance on the mound to get the win. Sturtsman went 7 innings while giving up 1 run and striking out 6. Sturtsman was efficient with his pitches as he only walked two on the day.
Offensively, the Squires were led by Ethan Hendrix. Hendrix was 2-4 with a homerun and 2 RBIs.
The team was able to compile 10 hits in the game.

The Squires were unable to carry their momentum from game one into game two on Saturday. The team committed 8 errors in the loss. The Squires left too many runners on base to be able to overcome their defensive woes.
Two Squires pitchers made their season debuts during the game. Evan Estep got the start. He threw 4 innings while giving up 3 ERs and striking out 3. Davin Hendrix came into the game in relief and threw 3 innings while giving up 2 earned.
Offensively the Squires were led by Gavin Martin who went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and Dallas Martin who went 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Both Martins had a double.

The Squires are now 5-2-1 on the season. The team will host the Oak Hill Golden Eagles on Monday.
