Boys Varsity Baseball beats Blackford 8 – 3

The Maconaquah Braves played an all-around solid game to earn the victory over a good Blackford team Friday night. The Braves improved defensively and did not give up an unearned run all night.

Adam Cannon started the game and got the win for the Braves. Deven Mitchell pitched well in relief.

On offense, the Braves were led by Kaleb Shelton (3 hits), Bennett Isenburg (3 hits), and Jacob Isley (2 doubles). The Braves also got hits from Braxtin Birner, Devon Murry, and Marcell Sims.

Coaches comments: “the key to our victory tonight was that we limited the number of free bases for the other team. Adam and Deven both threw a lot of strikes. Adam pitched to contact to get a of ground balls. The defense made all of the routine plays. We looked settled and relaxed on defense tonight. “

The Braves are back in action at Northwestern on Saturday morning.

Maconaquah Softball defeats Tri Central 11-1

The Maconaquah Braves traveled to Tri Central Thursday evening to match up against the Tri Central Trojans.

The Braves start the game off hot. Amaya Rader launches a 3 Run Shot over the fence. Kaitlyn Bunch has a bunt single, scoring Sydney Barnes. Kasey Murry bats in Bunch. Braves get 5 runs in the first.

In the top of the third Senior Anna Clifton launches a 2 run dinger, her 2nd Home Run of the season scoring Ireland Kile.

The Braves close out the game after 5 innings. Scoring 11, 9 hits, 8 RBIs, 4 stolen bases.

The Braves defense was solid highlighted by a strong infield. Kiara Cox, Kasey Murry, Anna Clifton, Sydney Barnes, and Bailey Carson combine for 10 infield outs in 5 innings. Pitching for the Braves Carson 5IP, 4 Ks, no BB, 44 pitches.
