Braves Show Improvement in Match vs. Peru/North Miami

Maconaquah Boys Golf had perfect weather conditions as they faced the other Miami County schools (North Miami & Peru) at Peru Municipal Golf Course. Overall it was a very competitive match amongst the three teams. At the end of the night, Peru took the win as they shot 200 as a team. The Maconaquah Braves took second place with a team score of 203. North Miami came in with a team score of 210.

Camron Metcalf had the low score for the Braves with a 46, although he couldn’t quite figure out his putter (with three 4-putts). Aiden Robinson had the second lowest scores for the Braves with a 47, with no more than 2 putts per hole. Zach Duke came in with a score of 54 and Cody Miller shot a 56. Carsten Hollars shot a 58, but had a chip-in for a par on hole 2.

Jakob Grant went low for the JV squad with a 58. Wyatt Swift was close behind him with a 61 and birdied the only par three! Kyle Bockover came in with a 69 and Drew Grigsby shot a 73.

This was the first of four matches for the week. The next match is Thursday May 2nd at Rock Hollow vs. Southwood.

Boys Varsity Baseball beats Lewis Cass Jr-Sr 7 – 0

Maconaquah defeated Cass 7-0 on Tuesday night. Bennett Isenburg pitched a complete game shutout for the Braves, striking out 10 hitters.

Caiden Richards lead the Braves at the plate with two doubles and an RBI. Kaleb Shelton added a hit with an RBI. Damion Torres added a two RBI single as well. Marcell Sims and Isenburg also had hits.

Coaches quotes: ” Bennett struggled early and worked out of a jam in the first and then settled in and pitched really well. His defense made some good plays behind him as well. Zach Stolz played very well on defense tonight at first base. Richards made a key diving catch in the 7th to preserve the shut out. And Braxtin Birner made a nice catch on a soft line drive.”

The Braves are back in action on Wednesday at Rochester.

Girls Varsity Tennis beats Peru 5 – 0

Last night, Varsity tennis traveled to Peru resulting in a 5-0 victory. Due to a default at 2 Doubles, only 1, 2, and 3 singles, and 1 Doubles played a match. Our 1 Doubles team made quick work, while 1 singles went into a full third set to take the win. The Lady Braves will travel Wednesday to finish their matches against Whitko.
