Varsity Softball beats Elwood 14 – 4

The Lady Eagles dominated against the Elwood Panthers tonight with a 14-4 win.

The Eagles scored their first two runs in the first inning. Evie Holz started off with a base hit to right, followed by a walk by Jolee Hawkins. Karsyn Wiley scored Evie on a single. Then Bella Foustnight had a great slap and was safe at first and hit the second run in.

The Eagles went on a run in the fourth inning, scoring eleven runs. Lex Myers started it off with a walk. Zoey Bragg followed suit. Myers was able to score on a passed ball. Taylor Holloway had a base hit single and drove in Bragg. Holloway was also able to score on a passed ball. Alivia Shaw drew a walk and on a fielder’s choice, got out at second with Holz arriving safe at first. Jolee Hawkins drew a walk. Holz was able to score after a couple passed balls and a wild pitch. Liz Godfrey came in for Wiley and had a shot between the shortstop and third basemen to score Hawkins. Pathie Speicher then had a single to get on. Bella Foustnight had another great slap to get on base. And on that play Godfrey was able to score on an overthrow to third. Lex Myers came up to bat for the second time in the inning and drew another walk. The Bragg had a base hit to score another run. Holloway followed up with another hit that also scored a run. Brooklyn Chapell hit for Shaw and had a nice hit that dropped close to second base to score a run. Then there was a fly out to second and leaving the base early to end the inning.

Oak Hill scored one more run in the sixth inning after Elwood made a run in the fifth. They made it a nine run ball game which stopped the Eagles from run ruling them in five innings.

Lots of girls contributed to the game tonight.

As a team we drew eleven walks. Lex Myers had four of those walks and Jolee Hawkins had three along with a hit by pitch.

Pathie Speicher pitched the first four innings with Macie Foustnight ending the game. Speicher had three strikeouts and only allowed one run. Macie did a good job of finishing the game!

OHTF Golden Eagles Remain Unbeaten Winning 8 Events to Earn Wins Over Alexandria & Mississinewa – Jackson Runs 3rd Fastest 1600 Meter Time in Program History & McKinney Wins Multiple Events

The OHTF Golden Eagles remained undefeated on the season by winning half of the events Tuesday at Mississinewa in scoring 67 points to pick up triangular meet wins over the host Indians and Alexandria. Fresh off their Grant 4 Championship this past Friday the Golden Eagles were able to rest many of their multi event athletes, specialize in a single event, and or get multiple young athletes opportuities to score points.

Junior Micah McKinney was the high point man on the night and only Golden Eagle athlete to win multiple events grabbing an individual win of his own in the 300 Meter Hurdles and also as part of the winning 4×400 Meter Relay. McKinney also added a 3rd in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Joining McKinney on the winning Relay were Senior Kaleb Westgate, Junior Morshown Cotton and Sophomore Brayden Sommers who took 2nd to McKinney in the 300 Hurdles.

All other Golden Eagle wins on the night came in individual events and from athletes competing in just one event.

The top performance of the night came from Senior Owen Jackson who won the 1600 Meter Run in a new lifetime best 4:20.1. The time is the 3rd fastest in Program History less than a second behind 2nd Tolbert (1977) and 3 seconds off Alan Thomas’ Program Record of 4:17. It was the fastest 1600 run by a Golden Eagle in 37 years. His time surpassed classmate Trenton Sweet’s IHSAA State Qualifying mark of 4:21 last spring.

Sweet also had near record breaking performance as he recorded a 1:57 to win the 800 Meter Run. Westgate took 2nd to Jackson in the 1600 while Junior Lance Wyrick ran to an impressive 2:00 in the 800 to take 2nd behind Sweet. Wyrick became just the 14th athlete in Program History to run 2 flat or faster in the event. Senior Toby Sneed also set a lifetime best in the event taking 3rd in 2:04.

Junior Drew Elzinga won the 110 Meter Hurdles while Senior AJ Austin went 1-2 in the 400 Meter Dash with Junior Morshown Cotton.

The lone field event on the night for the Golden Eagles came in the Pole Vault from Junior Maddux Boswell.

Both the 4×800 Meter Relay and 4×100 Meter Relay took 2nd. The 4×8 consisted of Senior Colin Middlesworth, Juniors Owen Roth and Owen Middlesworth, along with Freshman Meyer Middlesworth. The 4×1 featured Juniors Colin Tarlton and Cameron Jones along with Sophomores Josh Morgan and Isaac Mitchener. Jones added a 2nd in the Long Jump while Roth a 2nd in the 3200 Meter Run. Sommers was runner up to McKinney in the 300 Hurdles.

OHTF Lady Eagles Win 11 Events Scoring 95 Points in Triangular Win Over Alexandria & Mississinewa – Newhouse, Trexler, Rex All Multi Winners

The OHTF Lady Eagles managed to stay unbeaten on the season Tuesday winning 11 of 16 events and scoring 95 points to win a triangular meet over host Mississinewa and Alexandria.

Fresh off their Grant 4 Championship last Friday the Lady Eagles were able to rest a great deal of their athletes Tuesday in winning and still get a great deal of their younger athletes a chance to shine. In fact 3 Freshmen were their Top 3 Scorers on the night in Erika Newhouse, Annie Hale, and Jaden Denham. Junior Aubrey Warnock was 4th on the night in points followed by classmate Riley Alfandre and Sophomore Kaitlyn Scalf.

Newhouse was a double event winner on the night as part of the winning 4×400 Meter Relay and capturing the 300 Meter Hurdles individually. Newhouse also added a 4th in the Long Jump. She was joined on the winning relay by Denham, Junior Audrey Rex, and Sophomore Lydia Trexler who was also a double event winner. Trexler was part of the winning 4×800 Meter Relay team consiting of Freshman Claire Bajor, Scalf, and Junior Eily Hawk.

Rex was the third Lady Eagle to win multiple events as she led off the winning 4×100 Meter Relay. Rex was joined on the relay by Hale, Junior Riley Alfandre, and Senior Ruth Tripp who grabbed her 1st varsity win of the season.

Other individual winners on the night were Senior Evelin Perez who went 1-2 in the 1600 Meter Run with Freshman Quinn Brunner as both athletes ran lifetime best. Freshman Kora Pond won the 400 Meter Dash in 1:03 while Sophomore Biruk Travis and Junior Audrey Woodard won the 800 Meter Run and 3200 Meter Run. Junior thrower Jennessa Shields and Junior jumper Ellie Campbell both won the only event they competed in Tuesday night with Shields taking the Disc and Campbell the High Jump.

The best individual performance of the night came from Junior Abby Sneed who set a new lifetime best in the Pole Vault clearing 8-3 which is good for 6th best in Program History.

A few individual runner up finishes on the night came from Alfandre in the 100 Meter Dash, Hale in the 200 Meter Dash, Denham in the 400 Meter Dash, Scalf in the 3200 Meter Run, Junior Gwen Thompson in Shot Put, Warnock in Disc, and Sophomore Amelia McClain in Pole Vault.

Boys Varsity Golf finishes 3rd place at Elwood Community High School

The Oak Hill Eagles were led by Corbin Dailey’s career low round of 42 and Carson Hess shot a 44. The Eagles are back in action Thursday vs Frankton.

Golden Eagles varsity baseball picks up a CIC win at Elwood

Oak Hill varsity baseball improved to 9-6 and 3-0 in CIC play with a 5-inning win at Elwood 11-1. Ayden Pearce, Harrison York, and Austin Neese combined to throw a no-hitter.

Offensively, Avery Mills had a 3-run HR to lead the Golden Eagles. Ryan Lawson had a double and 2 RBIs. Dylan Archer had a double and 4 stolen bases.
