The Oak Hill Eagles ran into a very talented State Ranked Tipton golf team tonight at the Tipton Golf Course. The Eagles are back in action tomorrow at the Northfield Invitational.

OHTF Golden Eagles Win Half the Events to Capture 6th Straight Central Indiana Conference Championship – Jackson & Scott Combine to Win 7 Events. Jackson, Sweet, Sneed, Wyrick Set Conference 4×8 Record

The OHTF Golden Eagles won half, 8 of 16, events to total 172 points and win their 6th straight Central Indiana Conference Championship Friday. It was their 15th Conference Championship the last 18 seasons after a 13 year drought. The Golden Eagles managed to outdistance two very young and talented squads from Madison Grant and Mississinewa who both also scored over 100 points. In all the Golden Eagles managed to earn 17 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finishes including winning all three relays for the 1st time since 2011 and grabbing a 1-2 sweep in 4 events.

Golden Eagle Senior Owen Jackson led the way as he managed to win all 4 of his events. Individually Jackson edged teammate Trenton Sweet at the line, as the two tried to cross the line together, in a photo finish for the 1600 Meter Run win and then came back to run 1:58 to win the 800 Meter Run. Junior Lance Wyrick took a close 2nd to Jackson in the 800. Sweet and Wyrick joined Jackson and Senior classmate Toby Sneed in winning the 4×800 Meter relay and establishing a new Central Indiana Conference Championship Meet Record at 8:01. The previous record was 8:14. The time of 8:01 is the 3rd fastest time in program history and marked the 7th straight season the Golden Eagles won the event. Jackson then closed out his steller night with a blistering 48.5 4×400 meter Relay anchor split to help the Golden Eagles not only win the event but also post the 2nd fastest time in program history of 3:27.7. Jackson’s come from behind relay split is the fastest in program history. Wyrick joined Jackson on the winning relay along with Seniors AJ Austin and Levi Trexler.

Jackson joined Sweet in 2023 and Alec Samuels in 2011 as the only Golden Eagle athletes to win all 4 of their events at the CIC Championship Meet.

Sweet and Sneed added another 1-2 finish in the 3200 Meter Run as well with Sweet posting a lifetime best 9:38 good enough for 5th fastest time in program history. It was the 3rd staright year Sweet was the CIC 3200 Champ.

Freshman Jalen Scott continued to turn heads as the young speedster swept the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and had a dramatic come from behind anchor leg in the 4×100 Meter Relay to grab 3 personal bests and wins on the night. Scott went 11.0 in the 100 good enough for the 6th fastest time in program history – 2nd fastest that was computer timed. He also became just the 15th athlete in program history to break 23 seconds in the 200. The relay posted a season best winning time of 44.9. Scott was joined on the team by Trexler along with Juniors Morshown Cotton and Reese Hernandez. The time is the fastest by a Golden Eagle squad since 2019 and the 5th fastest in program history. It was the 1st time since 2011 a Golden Eagle squad won the Conference Championship in the event. Scott became the 1st Golden Eagle since Tahj Johnson to win the 100 and 200 events as Johnson did it in 2019. He also joined Johnson as the only 3 event Conference Champion for the Golden Eagles in the sprint events and 1st to do it in the 100-200-4×1. Along with the Lady Eagle’s win in the 4×1 Relay it marked the 1st time in program history both teams won the event at the CIC Championships.

Senior Nate Brower took 1st in the Pole Vault clearing 13 feet. His younger brother Freshman Kyle took 2nd for another 1-2 finish for the Golden Eagles. Nate also posted a 7th in the Long Jump.

Senior Tai Johnson took a strong 2nd in the Discus and 3rd in the Shot Put. Sophomore Thane Jones added a point in the Shot Put.

Austin took a respectable 4th in the Long Jump grabbing a 20+ foot jump for the 1st time in his career. Trexler took 5th in the High Jump.

Juniors Drew Elzinga and Micah McKinney provided points in the hurdle events with Ezlinga recording a personal best in the 110 Meter Hurdles for 3rd with McKinney setting a personal best to take 3rd in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Elzinga fell over the last hurdle to take 7th in the event.

Hernandez put points on the board making the final in both the 100 and 200 behind season best marks.

Austin and Cotton battled in the 400 Meter Dash taking 4th and 6th.

OHTF Lady Eagles Win 11 Events Push 200 Total Points to Capture 13th Straight Central Indiana Conference Championship – Highley Wins 3 Events. Campbell Break Meet Long Jump Record.

The OHTF Lady Eagles had a very strong performance Friday at the Central Indiana Conference Championship Meet winning 11 of the 16 events to outdistance a very dangerous Eastbrook team by scoring 197.5 In doing so the Lady Eagles managed to win the 13th straight Conference Championship – their 16th the last 19 years after a 7 year drought. Eastbrook was 2nd with a very strong 143.5. The Lady Eagles managed to sweep all 3 relays for the 1st time since 2013 as well as totaling 18 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes.

Senior Leah Highley led the way with 3 wins and a 3rd place. Highley individually won the 400 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash. Her time of 26.0 tied the program record set by M. Walker in 1985. She grabbed a 3rd in the 100 Meter Dash in a new lifetime best of 12.8 tieing her with Danielle Thompson at 2nd all time in program history just .1 off the program record. Highley wrapped up her storng night by anchoring the winning 4×400 Meter Relay in 4:19. Highley was joined on the relay by Sophomores Audrey Rex and Lexi Nuber along with Freshman Kora Pond. Highley became the 1st Lady Eagle to win 3 events at the Conference Championship Meet since Mollie Gamble in 2019.

Nuber was an individual champion winning the 300 Meter Hurdles while Pond added another event win as a member of the 4×800 Meter Relay. Joining Pond on that relay were Senior Evelin Perez, Sophomore Biruk Travis, and Freshman Quinn Brunner.

Two additional Lady Eagle Juniors that added multiple wins on the night were Ellie Campbell and Jennessa Shields. Campbell won the Long Jump in a new Central Indiana Conference Meet Record 17-10 and anchored the winning 4×100 Meter Relay. It was the 1st time since 2013 that the Lady Eagles won the event. Campbell was joined on the relay by Juniors Riley Alfandre and Cail Bowlin along with Sophomore Ava Miller. Their time of 51.6 is the 3rd fastest time in program history. Campbell’s mark in Long Jump was also a new program record. Campbell’s win in the Long Jump was the 1st by a Lady Eagle in the event since 2019 when Zoe Revennaugh won. Campbell added a tie for 3rd in the High Jump to her night.

Shields swept both throwing events as the Champion in both the Shot Put and Discus. It was the first time since Katue Shepherd in 2015 that a Lady Eagle won both events. Shields had tosses near 35 feet in the Shot Put for 4th best all time in program history and over 103 feet in Discus for a Top 10 program mark. Junior classmate Gwen Thompson added points in the Shot Put with a personal best toss of 30 feet and a 5th palce finish.

Junior Bella Taylor added a 1st and a 2nd on the night winning the High Jup at 4-10 and taking runner up honors in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Both her times in the trials and finals were good for Top 10 in program history. Nuber added a 4th in the 100 Hurdles as well.

Juinior Abby Sneed posted a win for the Lady Eagles in the Pole Vault with a winning height of 8 feet. Miller took 4th in the event and added a point in the Long Jump.

The Lady Eagles added a lot of solid depth points throughout the night. Rex took Runner Up honors in the 400 Meter Dash behind Highley. Not to be outdone Bowlin took Top 5 honors in both the 100 and 200 behind Highley while also posting the 3rd fastest time in program history in the 100 and 4th fastest time in program hisotry in the 200.

Pond added a 2nd in the 800 Meter Run while Travis posted a 3rd in both the 1600 Meter Run and 800 Meter Run. Junior Audrey Woodard got 3rd in the 3200 Meter Run while Perez took 4th in the 1600. Freshman Erika Newhouse running the 300 Meter Hurdles for still just the 3rd time posted another fast time just over 43 seconds and a 4th place finish.

Boys Varsity Golf finishes 4th place at NHS Cole Inv.

The Oak Hill Eagles played their best tournament of the year, led by Trent Nelson’s 76 which allowed him to finish 2nd in the tournament. The team is back in action Tuesday at Alexandria.

Varsity baseball tops Marion 7-2

Oak Hill varsity baseball held on to an early lead to defeat Marion 7-2.

Freshman Dylan Archer led the Golden Eagles offensively with a 2-run inside the park HR. Sophomore Landon Watts (in his first varsity start) was 2-3. Noah Thompson got the win on the mound going 5.2 innings with 5 K and only 3 H.
