The Wabash and Northfield cross country teams ran well at the Mississinewa Invitational Saturday morning.
With the top five scoring places coming in 1st 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th, the Apaches scored 25 points coming away with the victory. Fort Wayne Snider came in 2nd with 55 points. Brett Shull defended his individual title from the previous season. Newcomer, junior Caidan Burchett finished 3rd in his debut performance. Kasen Oswalt opened the season with a tremendous effort coming in 5th. His brother, freshman Kamden Oswalt, finished 7th in his first high school race of the season. Another newcomer, Drew Guenin-Hodson, finished 9th in his opening performance. Matthew Niles came in 18th and Maverick Sommers finished 36th. The team will be back in action next week at the Wapahani Invitational
The boys middle school cross country team started out the season with a win at the Mississinewa Invitational Saturday morning scoring 33 points and outdistancing 2nd place RJ Baskett by 14 points. Shenandoah and Woodlan middle schools finished 3rd and 4th. A close pack effort sealed the deal for the boys with 6 Apache runners finishing within 23 seconds of each other. 7th Grader Kedryn Evenson with the first Wabash runner to cross the line in 3rd place. 6th grader Jeffery Small wasn’t too far behind in 5th. Then the large group of Apaches runners crossed the line in succession. Maesyn Jones, Demetri Shull, Easton Cantrell, and Barrett Jones came in 9th-12th. One place separated the next two Wabash runners – Kalib Mabery and Landen Fisher who came in 14th and 15th. Phoenix Brown battled to a 19th place finish. Aiden Young finished 33rd and Bennett fry 36th. Mason Tart finished 38th and Finn Fairchild 42nd. Great effort from all runners!
The Mississinewa Invite was this past Saturday, and all the Northfield teams had a great race day, Kaleigh Rice was the first to cross the finish line during the girl’s race Saturday. Rice finished in 20:53 placing a new course record at Mississinewa. Congrats Kaleigh! Coming in 7th place overall was Teagen Baer finishing in 23:36 and in 8th place was Ali Copeland in 23:39. These girls gave their all this past Saturday and made it a great day for the Lady Norse. The team will travel to Manchester September 7th.
Our team traveled to Mississinewa Saturday. The team brought home 4th place overall and had 5 individuals in the top 25. Leading off our boys’ team was Elijah Gahl with a 12th place finish in 19:24. Coming in 13th place right behind Gahl was Kourtland Pratt in 19:29, 20th place Preston Moore in 19:52, 21st place Ryland Miller in 20:03 and in 23rd place Tayten Barlow in a time of 20:31. Our top 5 boys received metals for placing in the top 25 overall. Nate Hodson finished just short for a metal in a time of 21:01. Following Hodson was Blake Aderman in 21:25, Xavier Roark in 22:36, Holten Satterthwaite in 23:13, Ashton Aderman in 23:18, Gavin Lester in 23:36 and Ethan Hoover in 24:36. We will travel to Manchester on September 7th.
