The Manchester boys tennis team scrapped but couldn’t overcome a strong Northwestern team in a 5-0 loss to the Tigers Thursday, Aug. 29.
Missing No. 1 singles player Caleb Struble-Hedstrom, Manchester head coach Matt Carver shuffled his line up that saw four of the five positions changed.
The visiting Wildcats swept the doubles matches with Owen Harshman falling 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, Connor Trump losing 6-0, 6-2, and Adam Kerlin stepping up from JV lost, 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles matches were more competitive with the No. 1 team Cole Henderson and Brendyn Mugford dropping a long 6-4, 6-2 match, while the No. 2 team of Milo Hupp and A.J. Weaver falling short, 7-5, 6-2.
The Squires travel to Bluffton Tuesday, Sept. 3.
