The Southwood and Wabash cross country teams ran in the highly competitive West Noble Invite Saturday.
In the girls’ race, Paige Nelson placed 38th in a field of 177 runners in a time of 21:25.7. Hailey Collins set a new PR of 22:44.0, placing 72nd overall. Jaiya Corn finished in 153rd in a time of 26:33.1. Olivia Ranck ran a time of 29:37.6, placing her in 169th. Rounding out the score for the Lady Knights was Makenna Hunter who ran a PR of 30:45.6. This was the first race of the season that the Lady Knights were healthy enough to compete as a Team. Overall they placed 18th in field of 27 schools.
First for the team was sophomore, Mia Fairchild, placing 56th, with a time of 22:03. Next up was our team senior, Ivy Beamer, with a time of 23:02 and placing 87th overall. Following in behind Beamer was a junior, Haylee Friend, who came in 116th place with a time of 24:10. Following close behind was Paula Alvarez-Ibanez, a sophomore, with a time of 24:16. Alvarez-Ilbanez took 120th place. Mallory Tart, with a time of 24:21 in 123rd place. Following Tart was junior, Maya Howard, with a time of 24:41. Howard finished in as the 126th individual. There were 177 runners in the their race.
The Wabash boys tied for second, but finished third on the sixth man tiebreaker.
Jonas Church led the way for the Apaches finishing 4th. Caidan Burchett was the 2nd Apache crossing the finish line, coming in 14th. Brett Shull was close behind, finishing 19th. Kamden Oswalt ran an inspired race coming in 22nd. Kasen Oswalt rounded out the top 5, coming in 43rd. Maverick Sommers crushed another race, coming in 98th.
In the boys’ race, James Unger led the Knights with a 25th place finish in a time of 17:53.2 in a field of 199 runners. Luke Andrews placed 80th overall in a season best time of 19:13.6. Andrew Wright finished 156th in a time of 22:06.6. Jericho Corn set a new PR of 24.09.2, placing 182nd.

The Wabash Middle School Boys Cross Country Team competed in the West Noble Invitational Saturday morning coming in 24th place. Maesyn Jones was the first Wabash runner to cross the finish line, with a new PR of 12:56. The second Apache to finish was Landen Fisher, coming in 136th. Phoenix Brown was the 3rd Wabash runner, coming in 162nd with Aiden Young close behind in 166th. Finn Fairchild was our 5th runner, coming in 191st. The middle school team hosts the Wabash Invitational next Saturday at the city park.
