Manchester tennis Edged By Lewis Cass

For the second time in two nights the Manchester boys tennis team took it down to the wire. A night ealier the Squires defeated Triton, 3-2, with sophomore No. 2 player Caleb Struble-Hedstrom pulled off the deciding point in the third set.

Thursday night, Sept. 26, at Lewis Cass, Manchester faced the same scenerio with a 2-2 tie and Struble-Hedstrom battling in the third set. This time, however, he fell short, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-5, and the Kings squeaked out a 3-2 team win.

Lewis Cass took the first two points with Manchester’s No. 2 doubles team off the courts first in a 6-4, 6-2 loss, followed by Brendyn Mugford falling short, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Cole Henderson and Connor Trump held on for a 6-0, 7-5 win for Manchester’s first point and No. 1 singles player Owen Harshman won, 7-6 (9), 6-4, before Cass clinched the No. 2 singles match.

Manchester finishes the regular season with a 7-7 record and 4-4 in the Three Rivers Conference.
