The Manchester boys soccer team earned a share of the TRC conference championship Wednesday by beating undefeated Northwestern 2-1 in the last game of the season.
The Squires really played as one tonight and left everything on the field. Evan McLauglin made some huge saves in goal to keep Manchester in the lead. The entire team defended from top to bottom, but squire defenders Carson McLain, Colton Reffitt, Holden Poston, Simon Van, and Carson Heath frustraited the Northwestern attackers all night.
After a 0-0 halftime score Caleb Sautter put a jaw dropping free kick in the back of the net from about 25 yards out putting Manchester up 1-0. Later in the half Wyatt Schroll scored what ended up being the winning goal off an assist from Caleb Sautter. The Squires begin sectionals next Tuesday at Fort Wayne Concordia with a start time of 5PM.
