Squires Fall To The Long Ball

The Manchester Squires took on Homestead Tuesday, hanging tough with the visitors the first half before falling 71-48.

The Squires would grab a quick 3-0 lead on a Gavin Betten three before falling behind 10-6. Betten would then make it 10-8 before Ethan Hendrix drained a three for an 11-10 lead. Down 12-11 Hendrix and Betten would connect to give Manchester a 15-12 lead after one.

Homestead would start to find their shooting groove in the second quarter, scoring 18 points. Betten would hit twice with Tallon Torpy adding a three. Manchester trailed 30-22 at the half.

Hendrix would carry the load for the Squires in the third, scoring 10 of their 12 points, but it was all Homestead in the quarter, racing out to a 52-34 lead after three.

The Spartans would keep their foot on the gas pedal, hitting from long range 12 times in the game for the 71-48 final.

The Manchester junior varsity fell to Homestead 53-39
