It was a game of major runs for the Manchester boys basketball team as they ran past Southwood 83-27 Friday.
The Squires would start the game scoring the first 8 points, aided by a Tallon Torpy three. The Knights would stop the run with a Bryce Wilcox three before Torpy hit again from long range to make it 11-3. After a Bo Liddick three the Squires would then go to Gavin Betten and led 18-8 before Wilcox scored 5 straight for the Knights to make it 18-13 after one.
The second quarter would be all Squires, scoring the first 19 points. Ethan Hendrix started the run with Torpy and Betten dominating the rest of the quarter. The lone Southwood points came with 33 seconds left in the quarter when Owen Enyeart hit two free throws. Manchester led 41-15 at the half.
Maddox Marshall would score the first points of the second half before Betten answered with a three. After two Liddick free throws made it 43-20 the Squires would go running again. Dallas Martin would hit two straight buckets that ignited a 14-0 run as the Squires built the lead to 57-20. Griffin Chambers would stop the run with a bucket before Manchester scored 10 straight and led 67-24 after three.
The Squires would start the fourth quarter, scoring the first 11 points on their way to the 83-27 win.
Leading the way for the Squires was Gavin Betten with 23 points, Ethan Hendrix 15 points, Tallon Torpy 12 points, Aaron Reid 10 points, Kaleb Kline 9 points, Dallas Martin 6 points, Carson Heath 2 points, Nick Cave 2 points, Nolan Hernandez 2 points, Wyatt Schroll 1 point, and Carter Wagoner 1 point.
