Results from Wabash for Friday, January 10th & Saturday, January 11th.
The Wabash girl’s wrestling team wrestling team travelled to Rochester for the inaugural Regional Championship meet. All six wrestlers qualified from the Columbia City sectional last Friday. The girls wrestled valiantly but were unable to advance to next week’s State Championships in Indianapolis. This is the first IHSAA sanctioned State tournament for girls wrestling and advancing the whole team brings a positive outlook for next year.
The Lady Apaches moved to 13-4, 5-1 with a 56-38 win over Maconaquah at Coolman Gymnasium on Saturday night. Wabash would trail 14-12 after a quarter as the Lady Braves hit four 3’s but the Lady Apaches would bounce back and outscore Maconaquah 13-4 in the second period to grab a 25-18 lead at the half. Wabash would push the lead to 42-29 after three and go up as much as 21 before taking the 56-38 win.
The Lady Apaches were led by Kait Honeycutt with 16 points while Brookelynn Buzzard would add 15. Bryleigh Boggs scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Anna Daughtry scored 9 points and added 9 steals.
