The Manchester and Northfield cross country teams ran in the Manchester Invite Saturday.
The Manchester varsity boys finished 7th out of 20 complete teams with Clark Showalter running a career PR of 17:47 to finish 22nd. Jet Thomas placed 30th and nearly broke 18 minutes. With some minor setbacks early this season, Oliver Fitzpatrick and Gabe Selleck both looked strong. Charlie Van had a big race dropping over 30 seconds from his career PR to run a 19:22 and round out the scoring 5 for Manchester. Also in the varsity race, Wyatt Martin ran a season PR, while Everett Short and Marcus Harlan ran career PRs bettering their best time of last year.
The JV boys ran equally well. Keagan Noland, Noah Macias, Andrew Cardenas, and Sam Lengel all ran career PRs and Evan Bennett ran a season PR, some dropping over 1 minute from their best time.
The younger and less experienced varsity girls team finished 16th out of 19 complete teams, but the scoring 5 consisted of no seniors. Rachel Steely was first for the Squires in a season PR, followed by Emersyn Sarber, Ashley Angle, and Izee Keaffaber with career PRs. Despite some knee pain, Rachel Eberly rounded out the scoring 5 for Manchester. Maggie Akins and Hannah Music both ran a season PR.
In the JV race, Shelby Cahill and Kelzei Fox ran PRs.
Northfield split their boys team for a varsity and JV race at Manchester- Bode Sorg led the Norse team for a PR time of 18:13, Preston Moore followed in a PR time of 18:15, Kourtland Pratt PR’ed in 18:32, Tayten Barlow PR’ed in 19:37, Ethan Hoover in 20:02 and Xavier Roack rounded out the Varsity team in a PR time of 20:46.
Eli Gahl started his season Saturday finishing 1st in the JV race in 18:59. Alvero Gil ran his first cross country race finishing 11th overall in a time of 20:04, Nate Hodson followed Gil in a time of 21:07, Gavin Lester in 21:57 and Ashton Aderman in 22:44. All the boys ran a season PR!
The Lady Norse competed in the Manchester Invite on Saturday- Placing 7th overall was Kaleigh Rice in a season PR time of 19:41. Alyssa Schnepp came across the line 2nd for the Lady Norse in a time of 24:33, Sheila Smith in 25:32, Olia Leffert in 26:15 and Lara Alvarez in 32:05. All our ladies got their season PR’s,
Saturday at the Manchester Invitational Adalynn Hawkens placed 9th overall in the middle school girls race with a time of 12:25. Audrey Hawkens was next for the Lady Norse in a time of 13:14 followed by Brynley Rice in 14:14, Kailynn Beeks in 15:12, Kenzie Dietrich in 15:24 and Faye Leffert in 16:27. All of our Lady Norse ran their PR for the season, Congrats Ladies!
Our middle school boys all ran their PR’s Saturday as well. Leading the Norse was Hudson Texeira in 13:00 followed closely by Delcan Haupert in 13:02, Gabriel Hyden in 13:05 and Carson McClure in 20:22.
