Outside The County-Maconaquah

Results from Maconaquah for Saturday, October 4th.

The Lady Braves volleyball team headed to Fort Wayne Saturday for the six team Fort Wayne South Invitational. The Braves defeated DeKalb 25-23, 21-25, 15-12 in the first match of the day. We had to make some adjustments in the second set after an injury. We adapted and played through it to take the third set. Out second match was against Marion and we overwhelmed them right away with a 25-5 first set. We had some more rallies in the second set but won 25-12. The championship match was against Prairie Heights. The Braves had a big lead in the first set before giving up a long service run that had the match tied at 22. We were able to win the next three points to take the set. Our girls took charge with some strong serves in the second set as we went on to win the match and the tournament 25-16.

Stat leaders for the day include OH Kasey Murry with 19 kills, OH Nekane Hernandez with 16 kills, and MB Ireland Kile with 10 kills. Libero Addie Maiben dug up 30 balls to lead the Braves on defense. DS Aubrey Kaiser had 18 digs and Kile added 17 digs. Setter Averie Maiben dished 31 assists while fellow setter Delaney Betzner had 25 assists on the day. Betzner led the team with seven aces. Kile and Addie Maiben both served five aces for the Braves.
