
The Manchester Squires football team hosted Peru on Friday night, securing a victory with a final score of 35–21.
The game began with an exciting play as Squires cornerback Eli Metzger intercepted a pass from Peru on the opening play. This led to a 49-yard touchdown pass from Dallas Martin to Cody Carroll, giving Manchester an early 7-0 lead.
Peru responded with their first score of the second quarter, but Martin quickly answered with a one-yard rushing touchdown. Another Peru score tied the game at 14-14 as both teams headed into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, the game intensified in the fourth quarter. Maddux Greer scored from nine yards out to put Manchester ahead 21-14 with 7:56 remaining. Martin then broke free for a 26-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 28-14 with 5:21 remaining. Peru responded with a 66-yard pass play, cutting the deficit to 28-21 with 5:04 left. Reiss Gaerte added a 29-yard touchdown run to secure a 35-21 final score. The Manchester defense successfully held off a late Peru drive to preserve the victory.
