Lady Norse Volleyball Struggles At Regional

The Northfield Lady Norse spent most of the day trying to dig out of a hole before falling to Rossville 19-25, 17-25, 12-25 in the 1A regional Saturday at Elwood.

The Norse had a hard time finding their rhythm the entire match, falling behind 16-10 in the first set before two Callie Hoffman kills closed the deficit to 16-19. Hoffman would record another kill and the Norse got an ace from Emma Shrock before falling 19-25.

Emily Miller would record three kills early in the second set as the score was 4-4. Rossville would then out score the Norse 6-1 to grab a 14-6 lead and built the lead to 21-13 before winning 25-17. Miller had three more kills in the set.

Down 0-2 and any momentum lost the Norse could not find any mojo in the third set, getting an early kill from Brinlie Swihart before Rossville went on a 12-4 run to grab a 16-7 lead. Gemma Haupert, Miller and Hoffman each had a kill before the 12-25 loss.

Northfield finished the season 23-10, captured their first sectional title in 19 years, were crowned Norse Invite Champions and Tippecanoe Valley Invite Champions, added two athletes to the 1,000 Club
