The Southwood and Manchester boys hooked up Friday with the Knights holding off the Squires 58-50.
The game got off to a slow start with just 20 total points scored in the first. Bryce Wilcox got the scoring going with a three before a Lincoln Young bucket made it 3-2. Tied at 4, Griffin Chambers hit, followed by a three from Bo Liddick and a Wilcox bucket to make it 11-4. Aaron Reid would the hit his first of five three’s for the game before Wilcox made it 13-7 after one.
Liddick would start the scoring in the second to put Southwood up 15-7 before the Squires erupted for 16 straight points. Parker Satterthaite would the be fouled on a missed three, connecting on all three free throws before Reid scored 13 straight to put Manchester up 23-15. Wilcox and Aiden Hawkins would hit free throws with Wyatt Schroll and Carson Heath answering with buckets to make it 27-18. Four straight from Wilcox made it 27-22 with Satterthwaite answering with a three. Liddick would hit the final bucket of the quarter, with Manchester leading 30-24 at the half.
Things would tighten up in the third. A Wilcox free throw made it 30-25 before Reid drained another three for a 33-25 Squire lead. The Knights would respond with a 9-0 run. Maddox Marshall and Wilcox did all the damage to give Southwood a 34-33 lead. Heath would answer with a three before once more, buckets from Marshall and Wilcox put the Knights up 38-36 after three.
Southwood would continue their run to start the fourth with Liddick hitting from long range, followed by a Wilcox bucket and another from Liddick to put Southwood up 45-36. Schroll and Reid would cut the deficit to 47-42 before five straight points from Liddick made it 52-42. The Squires could get no closer than 56-50 with 27.6 left before a Wilcox dunk sealed the 58-50 win.

Southwood won the junior varsity contest 40-33.
